The accumulation of environmental exposure as well as biological ageing results in free radical damage and the breakdown of collagen and elastin. The body’s natural growth factors that function to repair damaged tissue and regulate cellular growth are also hindered. There is therefore a need to supplement growth factors into our daily skin care regimen. Epidermal growth factors have potent skin-regenerating properties. Growth factors work by attracting cells to a wound site or areas of DNA damage (aged skin) in order to trigger our bodies healing response. That process promotes skin tissue repair and regeneration and stimulates collagen production therefore playing an important role in maintaining youthful, healthy skin structure and function.
